FasCat Strava Segment Challenge

Join the FasCat Coaching Gravel Team and take these four Strava segment challenges.  Upload these routes and ride for training and then go back using Strava's Live Segment feature and go for a PR.  Dare we say a KOM?!

We'll organize everyone's results on Strava using the FasCat Coaching's Club to categorize the results based on life situations like 'married, mortgage, 2+ kids, full time job' or 'living the pro lyfe'.  In all seriousness, Strava ranks men and women in the age categories: 35 - 44 , 45 - 54, 55 - 64, 65 - 69, 70 - 74 and 75+.  Scroll down for the training rationale, details, 'rules', prizes and days on which we'll be out there providing GU Energy fill ups along the route!

Here are the 4 routes and segments for this Summer modeled after some of the gravel races we are missing:

MAY: HOMAGE TO THE DIRTY KANZA

The Route

The Strava Segment

JUNE/July: Crusher in the Tushar  Simulation

The Route

The Strava Segment (TBR - to be ridden:

JULY: THE PEAK 2 PEAK LOOP CHALLENGE

The Segment

AUGUST: Gold Rush Training: SWITZERLAND TRAIL TOUR DE GOLD HILL WITH LICKSKILLET AND ROWENA

The Segment

The Competition:

Do these routes and segments anytime you wish - the beauty of Strava is the leaderboard is populated whenever YOU do your ride.

To encourage community and some semblance of the events that we are all missing, FasCat will be out on these routes one day per month with the Gravel Team's Van, Tent and GU Energy water bottle fill ups + Chews & Stroop waffles.  With the exception of the Dirty Kanza route we'll be at the end of the each segment. So you can stop for picture of your suffer face! Social distancing will apply (not kidding)

Neutral Support and Social Distancing Race Dates

May 31st - the Dirty Kanza Route - we'll be at mile 50 out in Loveland to fill you up to keep you going

June 21 - we'll be at the top of Magnolia where the segment ends just before the dirt turn to pavement

July 19th - we'll be at the corner of Lee Hill and Broadway (where the segment ends)

August 9th - we'll be at the end of the segment on Sunshine Canyon where the pavement turns to dirt by the fire station

Results and Prizes!

As FasCat Athlete Phil says, "a race win is a result, but a Strava KOM is a legacy".  Therefore, as mentioned, the Strava Segment leaderboard will serve us for the 'results'

Prizes will be hats, t-shirts and our kit from Pearl iZUMi, we will check the Strava segment leaderboards on the last day of each month:

If you want to humble brag about your segment, PR or KOM on social media before then, we'll 'double like' your post and enter you into a prize pack contest.  So every rider is a potential winner!  We will organize a social distance podium and prize pickup in person.
