This plan includes plenty of sweet spot and threshold climbing workouts and the all-important Crusher Simulation training rides specifically for the two difficult climbs you’ll face in the Crusher. Read about them in Coach Frank’s race recap from his 4th place in 2016 and his Crusher specific training tip here.

Since a race of this magnitude requires more than six weeks of training you should consider completing the two “Six Weeks to Sweet Spot” Plans 1 & 2 before tackling this final 6-week preparatory plan. If you wanna truly get serious add a climbing interval training program after completing both or either of sweet spot plans 1 & 2 for a complete 24-week plan.

I signed up to race the Crusher in the Tusher race with 8 weeks to go. I knew I needed some structure and a serious training plan. I purchased the Fascat Coaching Crusher training plan and got to work. I thought the workouts were all very detailed, made sense and were easy to follow. I also enjoyed the multiple other emails giving advice on a wide range of topics from nutrition, to whole body cryotherapy, to sweet spot training, etc. I especially appreciated the Crusher course preview as this was my first time racing the Crusher. All good info and interesting. I had a great race and felt really strong throughout the entire race. I ended up winning my age group and actually set a new course record for my age group! Thanks to the Big Cat I got really fast. Thanks to Fascat for the great training program that helped me have an awesome day on the bike!

I’ve been listening to the FasCat podcast for over a year – 5 stars there too. I was originally planning on sweet spot training and some common knowledge on steady state interval training. However, like everything else in life, something happened, and on Sunday January 13th (exactly 6 months from this year’s Crusher) I found myself in the back of an ambulance headed to the ER after being hit by a car from behind. Out for 6 weeks with a torn hamstring and other bumps and bruises (yes, I was lucky), I decided I would rebuild using FasCat’s sweet spot training and then sign up for the Crusher Plan. I really liked having the specifics of each day planned out for me and then ported to my Garmin. However, by far, the best part of the plan was being able to go on the Forum and ask Frank and his team questions (probably too many questions). The response time was amazing. FTFP!!!! This was my third Crusher. I PR’d by 17 minutes.

My wife and I just had our first child at the start of June and this training plan helped keep me on track and build fitness for Crusher. I had previously done Crusher twice on a hardtail mtb with xc tires and my best time was right around 5:24. I swapped out the fork on my mtb for a rigid one and put on some skinnier gravel tires so that definitely helped too, but the large part of my improvement was due to my fitness. I PR’d by 30 minutes with a time of 4:54. Barely missed out of fifth place after cramping with about 8 miles to go. That’s not a knock on the plan because I just ran out of water and otherwise would’ve been fine. I chose the intermediate plan due to time constraints and having those structured workouts planned out for me were super helpful. The cherry on top is that the weekend after crusher I did the Salt Lake Crit and still had that type of bursty fitness to finish 3rd in the 1/2/3 category.
