The Loveland Lake to Lake features a beautiful but challenging bike course and a calm swim! We’ll help you prepare properly with 6-weeks of swimming and biking specific to the Loveland Lake to Lake course. This periodized plan starts May 6th and will have you doing some testing to set threshold pace and heart rate/watts so you know you’re swimming and biking at the right efforts to get faster without overdoing it! The intervals in each workout build as you get closer to race day with a regeneration week before your aquabike so you are feeling fresh and fast on race day!
This plan includes structured swimming workouts with drills if you can’t swim with a group! There are even open water pool drills to get you ready for racing in Lake Loveland! The bike workouts can be done indoors or out as your schedule and the weather allow. The transition from swim to bike is a long one in this race so a little jogging or running is in order and there is even a workout to help you get ready to transition from the swim to the bike!
Additionally, this plan includes all the “marginal gains” details to get even faster: Recovery Techniques, Rest Days, Yoga, Foundations, and best of all, Strength and Conditioning – all you need is a physical therapy style rubber band and MOTIVATION! There are instructional videos in the plan for you to follow along at home.
