This 6 week plan incorporates a strategically timed training block around the Christmas holidays to raise your CTL and culminates with an age-based taper for your best form on race day possible. From Thanksgiving thru your last local race of the season recovery and race preparedness are the priorities.  Then you’ll have a ‘personal training camp’ full  Sweet Spot riding to maximize your aerobic endurance in minimal time. After a week of heavy riding, you’ll start in on your taper as the New Year rolls around so you can soak up the training you got for Christmas. Be sure you can do a 10-12 hour block of training in-between Christmas and New Years for the 40+ & 50+ plan. For the 60+ racer, your plan calls for a  12/13 hour training camp the week before Christmas.

    great plan, I was able to bump my FTP up by 10watts in the short period b4 Natz. (Unfortunately the plan wasnt able to bump my motivation and I didnt make the trip to Reno.) After discovering FastCat coaching I’m on a much better track for a successful CX season next year. Looking forward to 18week SS next up !

    After a season of up and down results, I was looking for something to take my fitness to the next level. I’ve never followed a training plan, so this was new to me. The plan was very easy to use and included step-by-step instructions. I loaded the workouts into my Garmin and made small adjustments to fit everything with my schedule. I don’t currently have a power meter (hope to get one soon), so I used the target heart rate zones instead.
