Sharpen your legs, balance your training load, and go into USAC’s Cyclocross Nationals with your engines roaring by following our Six Weeks to Peak for Cyclocross Nationals training plan!
This plan incorporates a strategically timed training block around the Christmas holidays to raise your CTL and culminates with an age-based taper for your best form on race day possible. From Thanksgiving thru your last local race of the season recovery and race preparedness are the priorities. Then you’ll have a ‘personal training camp’ full Sweet Spot riding to maximize your aerobic endurance in minimal time. After a week of heavy riding, you’ll start in on your taper as the New Year rolls around so you can soak up the training you got for Christmas. Then you’ll withdraw on that fitness you banked up & be ready to shred it at Nationals! See our Training Tip for an example of how this plan can raise your CTL to peak for Nationals!
Be sure you can do a 10-12 hour block of training in-between Christmas and New Years for the 40+ & 50+ plan. For the 60+ racer, your plan calls for a 12/13 hour training camp the week before Christmas.
