6 Weeks to the Firecracker 50 Sweet Spot Training Plan. This plan starts May 23rd, 2019.

You’ll need to “Sweet Spot up the Whazoo” to successfully race two laps up and around Breckenridge this 4th of July. Therefore, the FireCracker 50 training plan concentrates on preparing you to climb for 10 – 30 minutes at a time during a 5 hour (give or take?!)/ 50 mile race with sweet spot and threshold interval work.

Choose the Basic Plan if you are a Sport Class/40+ rider and have 4-8 hours to train per week

Choose the Intermediate Plan if you are an Expert Class / 30+ rider with 8 – 12 hour to train per week

Choose the Advanced Plan if you are a Pro Class or Expert 19-29 rider and can train 12 – 16 hours + per week

Every Saturday (or Sunday, you may flip flop) you’ll do a fun (we hope) FireCracker 50 Simulation ride where you (again) Sweet Spot up the Whazoo. For these rides instead of being constrained with intervals we’ll show you how to choose and use the terrain to achieve 45 > 60 > 90 minutes of sweet spot training during a long epic mountain bike ride. Just like the FireCracker 50.

    I loved this plan! I cannot not say that enough. I had to do several switches because of prior obligations or work schedule but in the end I was able to get in the required TSS and hours for training. Throughout the entire plan I was motivated and excited to train. Almost every ride I was setting a new PR on Strava. I was able to keep up with teammates that I could not keep up with in the past. Unfortunately the ultimate test was the Telluride 50 MTB race. The weather played a major role in the race and I was not able to race. I felt as though I would have placed in the top 5 due to this training program. I would highly recommend this training plan for anyone that is wanting to get faster and build more confidence. I look foreword to trying the cyclocross training plan. Thank you so much Fascat coaching, you all rock!
