CoachCat

CoachCat has changed
since you last looked

CoachCat 4.0 is live, and so is a lot more. It tells you if you're recovered, proves you're getting faster, and tells you exactly what to eat on every ride. Open the app and see.

● CoachCat 4.0 Β· Recovery

Know if you are recovered or not

Open CoachCat and see one number: how recovered you are. It reads your sleep, your heart rate variability (small changes in the time between heartbeats that show how rested you are), and the training stress from the last few days.

Then it checks that number against your calendar. Fresh, with intervals planned? Go hit them. Wrecked, with a hard day coming? CoachCat opens the conversation about changing it. You never get a number without knowing what to do with it.

● CoachCat 4.0 Β· Your coach

A coach that already knows
your day

Tap the CoachCat button from anywhere. It knows what you rode yesterday, what's on the calendar tomorrow, and how you slept last night.

The conversation starters change every day. On a rest day, "why is today a recovery day?" The night before a group ride, "prep for tomorrow's group ride." And the one riders use more than we expected: "give me more critical feedback."

Short on time? Tap once to shorten today's ride. Feeling good? Tap once to add an hour of Sweet Spot. That used to take an email to a coach and a day of waiting. Now it takes a thumb.

● CoachCat 4.0 Β· Progress

Proof you're getting faster

Fitness gains are slow, and hard to feel from inside the week. The new Progress tab shows them to you.

Your best 5 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 20 minutes and 1 hour, in watts and in watts per kilogram (your power for your body weight)

A NEW badge on anything you set in the last month

A power curve you can pull out to 1, 3, 6 or 12 months to watch it lift

A calendar that shows your streak and your Level next to every workout

And every ride gets decoded

Finish a ride and the first thing you see is whether it moved you forward: a level up card, then today's 10, 20 and 30 minute power next to your all time bests. Then a short note in coach voice on what the ride was and what it sets up next. Flip to the Your Ride tab for the full power trace, colored by zone, with Sweet Spot as its own band.

● Season review

Review your whole season
in 30 minutes

CoachCat already has every ride you've uploaded. Ask it the right questions and it builds the charts from your own data. Copy and paste these into the chat.

Prompt 1 Β· Weekly hours and OTS

Take a look at my total weekly hours and OTS and let me know if you see anything big picture that I should do differently for 2027.

Prompt 2 Β· Power PRs

Make a chart of my peak 5 second, 1 min, 5 min, 10 minute, 20 minute and so forth, and include the dates of my power PR compared to my power PRs in January.

Prompt 3 Β· FTP

Build a chart with all my FTP improvement since January.

OTS is CoachCat's measure of how much work your rides add up to. FTP is the power you can hold for about an hour.

● New Β· FuelTrix

What to eat, on every workout

Most riders plan a workout to the minute, then fuel it by feel. The result shows up in your ride file as power fading in the last hour, and it gets blamed on fitness.

FuelTrix puts a carbohydrate target on every workout on your calendar, in grams per hour. It's based on how hard the ride is and how long it lasts. It doesn't change with your body weight, because how much your gut can absorb doesn't scale with size. The same workout gets the same number for everyone. A Fuel Your Ride panel turns the number into bottles and gels, and tells you when to start eating. There's nothing to set up. Update the app and check tomorrow's workout.

A few examples

90 minute endurance spin30 g/hr
2.5 hour ride with threshold intervals80 g/hr
Gravel race over 4 hours120 g/hr
Recovery ride0 g/hr

Your calendar shows your own number for every workout. Race days get the highest targets.

● New Β· Masters coaching

Coached the way a FasCat coach would coach your age

Coaching a 55 year old is different from coaching a 30 year old. The intensities are the same. Almost everything around them changes. Now CoachCat makes those changes for you, in every chat, every ride recap and every recovery write-up.

Same intervals as the pros, fewer reps and sets. Cut sets before you cut intensity.

Lighter days when recovery is yellow or red. At 50 and over, recovery is the limiter.

Honest timelines. A flat block at 50 and over is usually adaptation in progress, so CoachCat plans for 8 to 12 weeks.

Deeper rest weeks and tapers, and a slower, safer comeback after time off.

Race day advice for Masters, including a full warm up at every format.

You stay in charge. Ask for a bigger plan and CoachCat explains the trade off, then builds exactly what you chose.

It remembers. Tell it about a bad knee, a work trip or your A race and it uses that in every chat.

40+

The definition of a Masters athlete.

50+

Where the real adjustments start.

60+

Gets its own volume guidance.

70+

The 4 to 8 hour plan level.

One thing to do: tell CoachCat your birthday. Without it, CoachCat has to assume you're under 40.

It's optional. Add it in your profile, answer the one quick question when you build a plan, or just say it in chat: "My date of birth is [your birthday]. Coach me as a Masters athlete."

● Smarter plans

The plan you asked for,
built around your life

The plan builder got a serious upgrade. Here's what you'll notice the next time you ask.

The exact plan you name

Ask for Sweet Spot Part 4 and that plan lands on your calendar, not a close enough stand-in. Not sure of the name? CoachCat searches the library and helps you find it.

Built around your goal

Base, build and taper, timed to the day. New goals are covered too: off-season base, a cycling trip or camp, or out-riding your group.

Your training days, respected

Say "I can’t ride Sundays" and CoachCat keeps it. If what you say differs from your saved schedule, it asks whether to update your default or just this once.

Straight talk on strength

CoachCat only tells you weights are in your plan when they really are, and it won’t cram a strength block in too close to a race.

The plan you approve is the plan you get

The exact plan you saw lands on your calendar, confirmed before anything is applied, even if you take a day to decide.

Tapers and rest weeks, done right

CoachCat knows a pre-race taper is not a recovery week. It builds an opener workout the day before your event to wake the legs up.

● Off-season plans

The best plans to start
your off-season

All three are included with CoachCat. Ask for one by name and CoachCat puts it on your calendar, built around your goal and the days you can ride.
