Maddy Ward

Maddy has been a professional road cyclist since 2018, specializing in time trials and breakaways. She has recently become more off-road oriented to expand her skill base, exploring gravel and mountain bike trails around her home in Tucson, AZ. As a relatively new coach with a lot of racing and training under her belt, she draws on her firsthand experience and perspective as an athlete to tailor a training plan personalized to each one of her coaching clients.
Maddy started racing in 2016 at the collegiate level with her club team at UCLA where she caught the cycling bug on her first ride along the California coast. Maddy raced with the team for two years, capping off her Senior year as the WCCC Individual Omnium Champion. After graduating, Maddy went all in for cycling; she credits her quick progression in the sport to beginning to work with a cycling coach in 2017. She went on to get notable results at races such as Tour of the Gila, Redlands Bicycle Classic, Unbound 100 and Big Sugar. Thinking back to how integral having a coach was to her success, Maddy was herself drawn to coaching. She sees it as the perfect way to blend her affinity for analyzing power data with the opportunity to serve as a mentor and guide for her athletes just like her coaches have done for her.
Maddy believes open, transparent communication is the foundation for a successful coach-athlete relationship. She adapts her coaching style to the athlete’s goals and loves being entrusted to help athletes reach and exceed their ambitions.
