Ya’ll should check out some of the Oregon area gravel races. New this year is a stage race in central Oregon, the Cascade Gravel Grinder, 3 races over the weekend in an omnium format. Its an awesome place to ride! I don’t work for these guys…I just race in the Oregon region. OBRA.org has a calendar.
There’s also the Oregon Triple crown which takes you more towards the coast range with 2 gravel races later in May.
Totally dig the bike packing / chill goals this year and want to do the same. Hoping to do with the Outback 360 route. http://www.oregonbikepacking.com/
I also have eyes on Steens Mazama 1000 (unsupported race) but thats probably not within my capability range given my time constraints, maybe just bikepack around Steens mtn.
Anyhow, cheers guys. Hope you have a lot of fun this year!
Tantalus Drive I think is the climb in Oahu you were trying to remember.
Yes, that is totally it – how could I forget the Tantalus hillclimb, brain fart on air
