1 · Race Report

Demi Vollering (FDJ-SUEZ) won Stage 5 in Belleville-en-Beaujolais from a three-up sprint, after Pauline Ferrand-Prevot cracked on the Col de Durbize and never reached the front group. That left Vollering, Marlen Reusser and Kasia Niewiadoma to ride clear over the final Mont Brouilly climb, where Niewiadoma crested first before Vollering came past her to the line.

2 · The Watts/kg That Decided It

6.2W/kg

Niewiadoma took the Mont Brouilly KOM at 8:37 (3.03 km @ 7.7%), an estimated ~305 W = 6.2 W/kg at 49 kg (VAM 1,620), measured off her Strava segment time. Most men cannot hold 6.2 W/kg for 8 minutes.
