Evenepoel Wins Up the Solaison at 6.9 W/kg as They Take a Minute Off the Previous Record
Evenepoel, Pogačar, and Del Toro climbed the Plateau de Solaison in 32:03, 32:04, and 32:10, a full minute faster than the 33:05 record Del Toro set at the Dauphiné in June. The physics work out to ~6.9 W/kg and ~420 W for Evenepoel, with Pogačar at ~6.8 W/kg and ~450 W. No truce this time: the whole climb was raced.
The finish was still the playbook: Del Toro attacked into the final kilometer, Evenepoel countered at ~8 W/kg over the last 3 minutes, and three riders crossed within seven seconds. Our prediction said 6.8 W/kg and ~435 W to win. Bullseye.
1 · The Watts/kg It Takes to Win
An estimated ~435 W held for ~36 min (sweet spot).
At the 2026 Critérium du Dauphiné, Isaac del Toro climbed this same final climb, Plateau de Solaison, in 33:05 at an estimated 6.67 W/kg (VAM 1,861 m/h) to win the stage and the overall. That sits right alongside our 6.8 W/kg prediction above.
