Custom AI-Generated Workouts

You may create any type of workout with CoachCat’s chat-to-workout feature.  Simply type what you want (the more descriptive the better) and CoachCat will create the workout and then put tht workout on your training calendar where you can plan ahead, and push to your bike computer and virtual riding platforms like Zwift and Rouvy.

Creating a custom workout is also how you edit your training plan. Right now, CoachCat does not edit training plans because they are not AI-generated*.  Our training plans have been crafted by expert human coaches** and are based on tried and true coaching principles that have been incredibly successful for thousands of amateur and masters cyclists, just like you, including the 1x1 athletes we coach personally.

In this training tip, we’ll explain how to create a custom workout** and edit your training plan.  

Disclaimer: for best results try to FtFP (Follow the F@ #’ing plan).  That said,  your plan needs to be flexible based on your schedule and your recovery status

Use the custom workout to also add in your events, races, group rides, and even vacations.   Here are a few examples:

  1. Editing your 2-hour workout to be 1 hour

  2. Replacing a workout with a group ride

  3. Creating a custom VO2 Max workout

  4. Creating a custom ride based on the terrain (using Zwift's Uber Pretzel)

Example # 1 To make a 2 hour workout 1 hour, tell the AI in the chat, "I can only ride for 1 hour, can you adjust the workout?" 

Step 1:

once you have your proposed new workout you have the option to ask for further edits or a completely different option.  

Step 2:

the final step is to delete your former workout (open the workout, select the 3 dots in the upper right and select 'delete').

Step 3: 

Example # 2 To replace a workout with a group ride, "I have group ride on Wednesday, will you replace that with the workout for the day, please?"

Note how even CoachCat will not edit workouts but will offer to put new custom workouts on your calendar.  In this case, CoachCat creates a custom workout based on the description '4 hard efforts and a sprint at the end'. 

Note: you do not have to follow this structure, it is merely representative of how the group ride goes. (and remember to delete your former workout)

Example # 3 Creating a Custom VO2 Max Workout

See how CoachCat gives you a traditional 2 set, 3 minute VO2 Max workout? You may ask for even more customization: 

The sky is the limit for asking what you want.  Here's the custom VO2 Max Workout, that you may push to your bike computer or push to a virtual riding platform like Zwift or Rouvy. 

Note: you may also apply any workout in workout library to your training calendar. We have over 300 workouts organized from Zone 1 to Zone 7 for you to browse and build with. 

Example # 4 Creating a Custom Ride based on a course you are riding. In this example here is a custom workout created based on a long ride the athlete was doing on Zwift's Uber Pretzel course, with this elevation profile:

"Can you put a 5.5 hour ride on my plan that has a 20 minute sweet spot climb after 10 minute of zone 2 at the start, followed by 4 hours and 15 minutes of zone 2 and temp a 75 minute threshold climb up the Alpe du Zwift climb to finish? Total OTS should be 375!"

Et voila!

As you can hopefully see, the possibilities are endless - all you have to do is type what you want in the CoachCat chat and review the response.  This is how you can get exactly what you want and edit your training plan.
