What to Know Before Hiring a FasCat Coach:
If you are thinking about hiring a cycling coach to take your training to the next level, we'd love to help. Whether you're preparing for a big race or training for fitness and health, coaching can make a huge difference.
Here's everything you need to know before getting started with FasCat Coaching.
Q: What’s it like to work with a FasCat Coach?
Fun and motivating! We take pride in creating sustainable, long-term coaching relationships. Your coach is here to help you train smarter, not just harder and it all starts with a strong line of communication. We’ll build a plan tailored to your goals, lifestyle, and data. Your FasCat Coach has 'got your back' to help with achieve your goals.
Q: How does FasCat Coaching work?
Your training plan will be delivered via one of two platforms:
-
Chase & Catch Levels: Training plans are built in TrainingPeaks (cloud-based and easy to update).
-
Hunt Level: You’ll use the CoachCat App, where your coach guides your plan and the CoachCat AI supports your day-to-day questions.
All coaching levels include access to the CoachCat App and our AI assistant, CoachCat, for daily analysis of your wearable data (sleep and HRV), nutrition, and instant post-ride analysis.
Q: Do I need a power meter?
While not required, we highly recommend using a power meter. It allows for deeper analysis and more personalized coaching.
Q: How often do I talk to my coach?
It depends on the coaching level you choose:
Coaching Level | Communication | Plan Revisions | Data Review |
---|---|---|---|
Hunt | 1 call every 4 weeks | CoachCat | CoachCat instant analysis |
Chase | 1 call every 4 weeks | Your Coach | Weekly coach review |
Catch | 1 call every 2 weeks | Your Coach | Twice-weekly coach review |
Want/Need more feedback and guidance? Go with Catch. Prefer a lower-touch experience with AI support? Hunt might be right for you.
Q: What if I get sick, injured, or my schedule changes?
Life happens and we adapt! All coaching levels include plan adjustments for:
-
Illness
-
Injury
-
Travel
-
Weather
- Fatigue
If your schedule changes frequently, Chase or Catch coaching is recommended so your coach can respond promptly and revise your plan more often. For Hunt Level, you'll use the AI CoachCat to support training plan revisions.
Q: What’s expected of me as an athlete?
To make the most of your coaching, you'll need to communicate and be 'coachable':
-
Follow your training calendar as closely as possible.
-
Let your coach know in advance about time limitations or schedule conflicts.
-
Provide feedback after rides (TrainingPeaks comments work great).
-
Be present and prepared for your coaching calls (don’t be driving!).
Q: What platform will my coach use — TrainingPeaks or the CaochCat App? Both!
-
Catch & Chase: Use both TrainingPeaks and the CoachCat App.
-
Hunt: CoachCat App only, powered by CoachCat AI.
-
Your platform depends on your chosen coaching level and how hands-on you want your coach to be.
Q: How does billing work?
We bill on a 4-week cycle, not monthly. This keeps coaching blocks aligned and avoids end-of-month congestion. You’ll get:
-
A new training plan every 4 weeks
-
A sales receipt via email
-
Automatic billing unless you’ve paid annually (which comes with up to 20% savings)
- you may cancel at anytime from your Profile -> Manage Suscription
Q: What should I do before my first coaching consultation?
Come prepared with having filled out our new athlete questionnaire plus
-
Your goals (races, events, or general performance targets)
-
Your training availability and lifestyle constraints
-
Any questions about power data, platforms, or communication preferences
-
Your preferred coaching level and frequency of contact
Q: Can I upgrade or downgrade my coaching level?
Yes! You can switch levels at any time from your FasCat account. This allows flexibility based on your needs, season, or budget.
Q: Who do I contact with concerns about my coach?
If you ever feel like your coach isn’t meeting your expectations, reach out directly to Frank Overton, FasCat’s founder. Our standard is excellence and we take your progress seriously.
